An officer of the Indian Army, IC 57620 P Major Devender Pal Singh, 7th Battalion, The Dogra Regiment, Retired; became a battle casualty of Indo-Pak War- Operation Vijay, 1999 while leading a platoon of 28 men and defending their position at the LOC. He survived to tell his tale.

Recently, my article on his heroic tale was published in a National Magazine detailed below:

Maj DP Singh: International Iconic Runner.
Fauji India: The United Voice of Veterans and Sainiks,
Vol I - Issue 2, Mumbai,
January 2015, p.p 22-24.
Published on January 1st, 2015.

Yesterday February 16th 2015, I received an email from Lieutenant Colonel Siva Kumar Thammaiah, 4th Battalion, The Dogra Regiment, Retired; with a soft copy and the following message attached:

Hi Sagat,

Well-written article. On 13 July 1999, DP was my company officer and I was present when he was brought across the Munawar Tawi

Thanks and with Regards,

He forwarded my article after receiving an email with the following text:
